Anthony J. Costello & Son Development Announces Plans To Construct Green Buildings in Brighton

Rochester, NY - October 9, 2008 Anthony J. Costello & Son Development LLC CEO and Chairman Anthony J. Costello today announced plans to follow industry guidelines of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for environmentally responsible construction. This move will initially involve the company's $164 million Clinton Crossings Corporate & Lifestyle Center proposed to be built in the Town of Brighton next year.

The development company, a member of the USGBC, will follow the Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines for environmentally responsible and healthy buildings. A target has been set to achieve LEED certification on the Clinton Crossings project.

In addition, the company has named William Daly, P.E., Vice President of Development, to oversee the conversion to green building. Daly, a professional engineer with the company for eight years, has earned LEED professional accreditation. The company's ability to meet a stringent list of building criteria on the project are required to achieve LEED's seal of approval.

"We are committed to going green in Brighton and throughout all of our development projects," said Mr. Costello. "Our Clinton Crossings Lifestyle Center is designed to be a fun place for people of all ages to walk about for dining, shopping, and entertainment, and it's fitting that we make it a healthy and environmentally responsible setting."

The Clinton Crossings Corporate and Lifestyle Center is proposed to be built on 82 acres of vacant land located along Interstate 590 at Winton Road in Brighton. The project introduces the Rochester area to the Lifestyle Center concept that has gained widespread popularity across the nation. Lifestyle Centers are mini villages featuring upscale retail, casual and elegant dining, and venues for music and social gatherings.

In addition to the Clinton Crossings project, Anthony J. Costello & Son Development is also proposing to develop two other innovative canalside projects which will also be built with LEED development practices. They are The Reserve, a residential community proposed for the Town of Brighton along the Erie Canal east of South Clinton Avenue, and CityGate, a mixed-use urban village proposed to be built on the former Monroe County Iola campus. This project, located at East Henrietta Road and Westfall Road, straddles the City of Rochester and Town of Brighton along the canal.

"It's clear that the time has come for commercial developers to be conscientious about what and how they are building and create structures that enable occupants to be good stewards of the environment," said Mr. Costello. "We are proud to do our part in the quest for more sustainable sites and to be one of the first developers in Rochester to go green."
